Support for Organisations

Under both NHSE Programmes, organisation support grants of around £3,400 are paid to organisations for each trainee on the Peer Support Worker course. (Please note that there is no grant payable to organisations for the Peer Supervision courses)

These grants are paid by NHSE specifically to support the successful employment of peer support workers, this might include:

  • help with backfill and support costs for trainees whilst they are on the course,

  • funding preparation for the whole organisation (e.g. development of strategy, training for staff, HR support etc)

  • funding team preparation for peer support so that roles are fully understood in teams that will include peer support; staff have the opportunity to discuss their concerns, and the role of peer support workers in their particular team are agreed

  • funding peer support co-ordinators and leads and/or supervisors

  • funding peer support worker development opportunities within the organisation

  • funding further training for peer support workers.

Imroc is committed to supporting all trainees to work to their full potential and we have extensive experience of supporting organisations and teams to develop their understanding and offer a context and culture in which they can thrive (see Preparing Organisations for Peer Support: Creating a Culture & Context in which peer support workers thrive — Imroc).

We recognise that training Peer Support Workers and their supervisors is only the start of integrating peer workers into services, so we offer support to teams, organisations and systems. This can include anything from team preparation sessions and group supervisions, to individual coaching and mentoring sessions for Peer Leads, right through to bespoke organisational development and thought leadership consultancy. We can also support you with evaluation and research so that you are able to demonstrate the impact of introducing peer support workers in your organisation.

Since our first peer support course in 2007, we have established a progressive peer training pathway that caters for people at all stages of their peer support journey. As well as the Peer Support Worker and Peer Supervision courses offered under the NHSE programmes, we have courses for those just starting to think about peer support and for established peer workers who are looking for career progression.

We also have a range of additional modules that complement the main Peer Support Worker courses or, if you are looking for something more tailored for your organisation, we can work with you to design and deliver bespoke modules.

Some of these courses or modules are accredited and some are CPD approved, so trainees attending them may also be able to include them as part of their annual training portfolios.
